What to Eat?

Seafood

Somboon Seafood

MUST TRY: Fried Curry Crab, Barbecue Prawns

There are a total of 7 Branches for Somboon Seafood and the on i went to is near National Stadium BTS station. A walk-able distance of around 10mins from the station.

If you are afraid of being scam, fret not! Cause Somboon had opened a new outlet at Siam Square Building and its just beside Siam BTS station. So its very convenient for diners.

I had screenshot the addresses of all 7 different outlets below or you can choose to visit the branch i went to.

Check out the directions to the outlet i visited here

T&K Seafood

MUST TRY: Steamed Fish, BBQ Prawns, Fried Chicken, Tom Yum Soup, Shark Fin's Soup

T&K Seafood is the one with the GREEN uniform. There's another seafood restaurant just right beside it which is in red uniform. I Google and researched that most people patron T&K instead.

T&K serves cheap and good seafood. Their portion is quite big even though we ordered small portion for everything. I would suggest you to get the outside seats instead.

Getting there: Cab (Cost around 200baht from Pratunam Area)

Som Tam Nua

MUST TRY: Chicken Wings, Deep Fried Fish, Grilled Pork Neck, Stir Fried Noodle Rice

Som Tam Nua is famous for their Green Papaya Salad. Im not really a fan of papaya salad but your can try it.

SabX2 Wanton Mee

MUST TRY: Dry Wanton Mee, Pork Trotter Rice

SabX2 had really springy noodles (QQ). The noodles are not the normal ones we had in Singapore with soya sauce. Their noodles are cooked with pork lard and its so flavourful. WARNING! SUPER ADDICTIVE!

Their portion is very small so a bowl might be too little for big eaters. Order at least 2 bowls to fill your stomach so save the space to try all other food.

Getting there: Chit Lom BTS station (Opposite Platinum Mall, beside Shibuya 19/Glow Hotel)

SabX2 Wanton Mee

4/32-33 Soi Petchburi 19 | Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand

Operating Hours: 9.00am - 3.00pm

Ban Khun Mae

MUST TRY: Fried Chicken Wrapped in Pandan Leaves, Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, Thai Milk Tea

I would definitely get my Pad Thai mixed here. The dish is cooked to perfection that the sweetness of the noodle is just nice. It is best eaten together with the crunchy peanuts so that it will bring out the fragrance of the dish.

Tom Yum Soup here was good with the authentic Thai taste. A mixture of spiciness and sourness.

A meal definitely wouldn't be completed without having the Thai Milk Tea here.

Getting there: Siam BTS station

Ban Khun Mae

458/6-9 Siam Square Soi 8, Rama 1 Road, Patumwan District, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

Operating Hours: 11.00am - 11.00pm

Cafes

After You Dessert Cafe

MUST TRY: Shibuya Honey Toast

There's always room for dessert at After You Dessert Cafe. Their Shibuya Honey Toast was toasted to perfection that it is so soft and fluffy. The maple syrup and ice-cream goes so well with the toast.

The waiting time during peak hours will be around 20mins as the toasting takes time.

Thai Milk Tea lovers will love their Thai Ice Tea Tart. It tasted the same as Thai Milk Tea with the sweet aroma taste only in solid form.

Mango Tango

Mango Tango had a various variety of desserts using mangoes. The one I had was the Mango Tango set which consists of Mango Pudding + Fresh Mango + Mango Ice Cream.

I love the fresh mango there as it is so sweet and juicy. I love how they present their mangoes too.

I went with a group of 8 that time and there is a minimum order of 4 desserts before you get a seat. So there will be a minimum number of orders if you are travelling with groups.

Mango Tango had various outlets as well around Bangkok. You can check out their website here.

Steamboat

MK Restaurant

MK restaurant is like a fast food chain in Bangkok. You can almost spot it at every shopping mall in Bangkok like MBK, Central World, Siam Paragon.

The steamboat items are all in ala-carte but they are all very affordable. It is considered a healthy choice of dining at MK.

In MK, other than the steamboats items the other item that you definitely MUST TRY is their roasted duck!

The roasted duck is so tender and it goes SUPPER WELL with their sauce. We ordered the platter with consists of roasted duck, pork and barbecue pork. But i suggest you to just order the roasted duck. IT IS SUPPER GOOD!

Chatuchak

Chicken Noodle Soup

After spending a few hours in Chatuchak, why not come to this place to get recharge before continuing to shop.

The soup base is the sweet herbal soup kind and it goes SUPER well with the noodle. Each bowl of noodle comes with a chicken drumstick as well. The meat of the chicken is cooked till tender and the best part is it only cost 50 baht for a bowl!

Coconut Ice Cream

Coconut Ice Cream is the best indulgence to cool down the heat in Chatuchak.

The Coconut Ice Cream comes with 2 free toppings and a free cup of coconut juice. They have plenty selections of toppings like corn, sticky rice, nata de coco, peanuts and many else.

The ice cream will be served on an coconut husk. The coconut ice cream is creamy and so refreshing. You will also be able to eat the ice cream with coconut meat on the husk.

There are many stalls selling coconut ice cream with the same concept but do check out the most popular outlet which I will state the directions below.

Snacks/Street Food

Waffle

This waffle can be found at most BTS stations or food courts. The one I always had is in Platinum Mall Food Court.

When you set your first bite on the waffle, it is soooo fluffy and you can smell the aroma of the waffle.

There are many flavours to choose from and I will have mine with Maple Syrup.

Eggettes

Hong Kong egg waffle available in Union Mall!

There are many exciting flavours for this egg waffles. The waiting time can be quite long during the weekends.

Egg-E-Egg-Egg

Bangkok is such a FOOD PARADISE! There are so many eateries i had yet to try like Victory Monument Boat Noodles, Greyhound Cafe, Grilled Salted Fish at the street stalls and the list goes on.

Will continue to update this post once I tried something new and worth recommending in Bangkok.
