Day 3
YAY! There's no need for me to introduce where we are going on day 3. Hehehe :D
Only visited 3 places on Day 3 but we also spent a full long day cause Disneyland is a whole day thing.
Went to Bing Kee Tea House 炳記茶檔 for breakfast. Im sure no Singapore Bloggers have come to this place before cause I don't seem to have read any reviews of this place. Only saw reviews from Open Rice and Taiwan Blogs. The reason is because this place is featured on 愛玩客 on one of the episode that shows where does Hong Kong famous celebrities likes to go for food.
And this place is actually Eason Chan's 陳奕迅 favourite.
They are famous for Pork Chop Noodle 豬扒麵 HKD 25 (SGD 4). The pork chop they serve is a lot as it covers the noodle when it's served. Every table sure had a bowl of this noodle for breakfast. The noodle soup is the Chu Qian Yi Ding instant noodle 公仔面.
The Pork Chop is soooo good. We both love it a lot. Recommended to eat it fast because once the meat is soak in the soup for too long, it hardens. The Pork Chop is so juicy and tender and they marinated it with their special sauce. The sauce is sweet and really goes well with the meat. No wonder Eason Chen visits this place often. To end your breakfast well, order a cup of cold milk tea to accompany it with your noodle. That's what Hong Kongese usually do.
This place is a hole in a wall shop. Not your usual Cha Chan Teng/Dai Pai Dong. They have no air-con and only depends on fan. It is set up under an apartment along the alley. The type of cultural here is lesser seen in Hong Kong already. 98% of the diners here are Hong Kongese and the other 2% is us. Haha :D Trust the locals when it comes to their place of food.
Bing Kee Tea Stand
炳記茶檔
Next to 5 Shepherd Street, Tai Hang
Nearest MTR Station: Tin Hau (Exit B)
Opening Hours: 7.30am - 4.30pm
Closed on Tuesday
Locals do like to bring their dogs out to dine with them. The dogs are all so cute.
The Hello Kitty Secret Garden Cafe is very near to Bing Kee Tea Stand. But not sure anyone would go and try it out when they visit Hello Kitty Cafe.
Its a must to take the Disneyland Train from Sunny Bay to Disneyland because that's the cutest train in the world and with comfy seats.
We went on a Thursday and reached there about 11.30pm. It was a super Non-Peak period as it was a weekday and Hong Kong Students are not having holidays yet. So for all of the rides, we queued less than 15mins. Yea, I know its great. And lesser China Tourist photobomb my photos cause I Shoo them away. I don't care if I get stares or what cause they are already rude themselves by appearing in my photos. But luckily not much of them :D
This will be a picture filled post so enjoy :)
In Disneyland, of course you must have this Micky Mouse waffles. The waffles is actually good.
These are some of the 3.30pm parade photos. The parade actually last for about 15mins and they will stop and dance in front of you under the sun. The parade is an everyday thing. So good right?!
Minnie is seriously damn cute and hyper! She's like always full of energy and her energy can't be use up. She will interact with each and everyone of us that takes photo with her. She notices I wore a Minnie Mouse t-shirt and pointed to it and point to herself to indicate that's her. She also notices the boy's t-shirt with Mickey's print on it.
The characters will have a 5mins break and come back out to continue taking photos with us. Mickey and Minnie will always walk together and wait for each other. And from the photos, Minnie cant seems to leave Mickey. OMG! Thats so cute!
Mickey is not so hyper and more classic. There were other characters like Pluto, Goofy and Winnie the Pooh at the Garden Fantasy area but we didn't take photos with them cause not a fan of them. Winnie the Pooh there was a skinny version.
Its getting late and we are waiting for the night parade which is so different and much more beautiful than the afternoon's one. Initially we wanted to watch the Frozen show that's only available for a period of time in Disneyland but all the show times were full. So we head on for the night parade which is Disney Paint the Night and we didn't regret at all.
Totally different and it felt more magical right? They dim the street lights and store lights for this night parade. Everything is just so amazing.
After the night parade, it will be just in time to wait for the fireworks. Be sure to get a good seat cause everyone will be sitting down to watch the fireworks. Settled down and waited for about 45mins to 9pm.
The fireworks lasted for a good 15mins and its really wonderful. Disney's songs will be played together with the fireworks and they do this everyday! Not only on weekends!
We bought a picture taken from Disneyland's DSLR with Minnie. They had a package of a hard copy + digital download fro HKD 145 (SGD 25).
The digital download is so cool because you can choose the different types of border for your photo and you can even add on the different character's signature.
Since you are already at Disneyland, I suggest you to get at least one copy for memories.
After a full day at Disneyland and without any proper meal throughout, we are definitely famished. So had dim sum for dinner/supper!!! And the place is super near our hotel too.
Saw ICAC while walking.
Dim Dim Sum have a variety of creative Dim Sums.
They are also featured in the world's 101 best places to eat in the 2012 series.
One of my best dish here would be the Crispy Rice Flour Rolls with Shrimp 脆皮鮮蝦腸. It is not the usual Chee Cheong Fan we have in Dim Sum Restaurant. It is a thin layer of rice flour wrapped with CRISPY dough fritters 油條. It's really crispy and not those which are already cold. Inside the dough fritter, there are shrimps. Again lots of shrimps. This dish is truly amazing! You can just stuff the whole thing in your mouth and let each bite take you to a whole new level.
We noticed one thing in Hong Kong, the sauce of the rice roll is usually poured upon serving. This should be the SOP instead of the sauce already poured when the dish is serve to you.
Another creative Dim Sum is the Piggy Custard Buns 金沙肥豬仔(流沙包). Im sure you won't find this cute design of liu sha bao elsewhere. The custard didn't really flow out but it still taste good. I like the bun a lot cause its so soft and fluffy. Its like those Mantou 饅頭 kind instead of the Char Siew Bao kind of bun.
We ordered the Congee with Pork and Preserved Egg 金銀蛋瘦肉粥. A comfort food for dim sum. The Congee we tried at the Dim Sum places are always good. The boy likes their Congee a lot too.
The Boy had his favourite Steamed Spareribs with Black Bean Sauce 豉汁蒸排骨. Usually I only order this dish in Dim Sum places for the boy cause he's the only one that's finishing it. He said this is one of the best steamed spareribs he had out of the other 2 Dim Sum places. The spareribs are much more meaty and bigger. The only downside is it also consists lots of Yam as the boy don't fancy it. So if you are a fan of Yam, you will like this even more.
Har Gow 晶瑩鮮蝦餃 was juicy and succulent. The skin was thin and it torn easily when you pick it up with your chopstick. But of course, the filling inside is still good with a huge chunk of shrimps.
Pork Dumplings with Crab Roe (Siew Mai) 蟹子燒賣皇. We like that they put in lots of Crab Roe in the Siew Mai. You can always find shrimps in Hong Kong Dim Sum's Siew Mai. Unlike in some Dim Sum places in Singapore, they uses chunks of meat instead. Its not like adding in a few shrimps will cost a bomb.
Dim Dim Sum had a total of 7 outlets. You can check out the different address and operating hours in the link below. We went to the one nearest to our hotel which is the Wan Chai outlet. But seriously, its not very close to Wan Chai station but much more closer to Causeway Bay Station. And its seriously only 5mins walk from our hotel and a straight walk down. We can always order 外賣 for supper from our hotel since its so near to so many good eateries if we are lazy. Haha :D One more thing I like about Hong Kong is they have delivery for food like Dim Sum, Rice and Desserts instead of only fast food to nearby places. The delivery charge is cheap too.
