Bangkok Trip Day 5

Finally went to ISAO on the last day of our trip. ISAO is a fusion Japanese restaurant in Bangkok. We reached there 10mins before their opening hours because the place is quite small and its always full of people.

I had Chicken Katsu Set and i love the tenderness of the meat.

The boy had Unagi Set and THIS IS THE BEST UNAGI WE EVER HAD! The unagi is grilled to perfect that once you put it in your mouth, it will melt inside it. It goes so well with the sauce as well. And look how big portion they served! Not stingy at all.

JACKIE one of my all time favourite sushi! Jackie is the name of this sushi and its presented in a shape of a caterpillar. Almost every table will order this. The sushi is filled with tempura, avocado and wrapped over with ebi comes together with a sweet and savory sauce. Its SO GOOD that you will keep wanting to have more after each bite.

Next we head over to Hello Kitty Cafe at Siam Square. There was a long queue but it moves quite fast because the place is huge. They also provide benches for you while waiting. I LITERALLY GONE MAD INSIDE THE CAFE! No hello kitty lovers wont love this place. Everything is just so cute that you wanted to bring everything home.

On the table is rainbow mille-crepe and an ice blended drink which i forgot its name. The mille-crepe tasted mediocre and the drink tasted decent. Should have ordered the milk tea instead.

I love their lemon tart and it is also one of their recommended dessert. It comes with marshmallows, strawberries, chocolate sauce and also a cup of chocolate ice-cream.

Headed to inter restaurant for dinner. This place is also located at Siam Square. I love Siam area a lot as there are lots of Thai restaurants and Cafes.

The recommended dish is fried pork with garlic pepper. Love how the pork absorbs all the essence of garlic and pepper. This dish goes so well with rice.

Inter serves really affordable Thai dishes with a taste of home.

Our flight back is at 9pm so we still have time to do some last minute shopping before leaving to the airport. How i missed Bangkok's cheap and good food so much and all those shopping. Most importantly I had the best travel companion with me! That's all that matters for a good overseas trip.

Bangkok Trip Day 4

Day 4 is a Saturday! So its time for Chatuchak weekend market. Its mandatory to get Coconut Ice Cream from Chatuchak and it is soooo good to have it when the weather in Bangkok is so hot.

The famous Coconut Ice Cream is the one with a flag on top. The stall is also decorated with lots of coconuts hanging at the top. They also give a free cup of coconut juice for each ice cream purchase. The ice cream is served in a coconut shell and you can choose 2 toppings. The ice cream is so refreshing to have it and it has the milky and coconut flavour in it.

Direction to this place: Between Section 1 and 2 near Kamphaeng Phet Mrt Station

After walking around Chatuchak, there are not much things for us so we headed to Union Mall instead. For Union Mall, you had to take the MRT instead of BTS. MRT is all underground in Bangkok. Union Mall is located 2 stops away from Mo Chit Mrt Station.

Nearest MRT station to Union Mall: Phathom Yuthin

So we had our lunch at MK Restaurant. Almost every shopping mall in Bangkok has MK Restaurant. Its like McDonald's there. MK Steamboat is actually very affordable there compared to Singapore's. Every item will be ala-carte. The ingredients are fresh and yummy.

And what's going to MK Restaurant without having their Signature Roasted Duck?! We ordered the Roasted Platter which comes with Roasted Duck, Meat and Char Siew. We both preferred the Roasted Duck a lot. The duck is so tender and juicy and it goes so well the sweet gravy. Their gravy goes well with anything.

Had these egg waffles which is addictive. Every bite is crunchy and fluffy inside. The queue is quite long for this stall as well.

This can be found at Level 2 of Union Mall

Union Mall had everything for both guys and ladies. The boy got a lot of shorts and shirts from there. Everything is more trendy here as lots of Thai Youngsters visit this mall.

We had Ban Khun Mae for dinner which is just located opposite Siam Square. Loving authentic Thai cuisine like this.

They had decent Pad Thai, the taste is just right for my liking. The boy had the Baked Rice in Pineapple it was pretty decent as well. The spring roll with shrimp is crunchy and nice with juicy shrimps.

This is the STAR of the meal. Deep fried marinated chicken wrapped with pandan. The chicken was well fry till tender and succulent. Almost every table will be ordering this dish.

Durian Cake

Mango Yogurt Cake

Our last stop of the day will be Coffee Beans By Dao for dessert. We waited around 45mins before we get a table. Went there to try their Durian cake and we ordered another mango yogurt cake. Durian lovers should really try this! Loving the creamy taste of Durian in my mouth.

The mango yogurt cake tasted decent, not so much to rave about.

Bangkok Trip Day 3

Another OOTD shot for day 3. We went back to Sab x 2 wanton noodle for breakfast again.

This time, we ordered an additional plate of pork intestines for the boy. The taste is actually not bad but is cost 200baht (SGD 8). So might not be so worth it.

By the way, Sab x 2 is near Pratunam Market. So GOOD NEWS for the ladies because after you had your breakfast you can head over to Pratunam Market to burn your calories. Most of my clothes are bought from there and Union Mall but you can get cheaper price in Pratunam Market because everything is wholesale. And i managed to grab trendy skorts like asymmetric skorts for only SGD 4 each. HOW FREAKING CHEAP IS THAT! Most of the stuffs here are for females and the boy only manage to get some basic tees here.

This is also one of my favourite street food. They are actually called LUK CHUP. It actually tasted like "And Ku Kueh". Loving the colourful and cute designs. Have been craving for this before my bangkok trip. And we found one stall selling this right outside Platinum Mall because they are having a vegetarian food fair. You can also find this in food court from MBK if im not wrong or Or Tor Kor Market near Chatuchak Weekend Market.

After all the shopping, we had Mookata for lunch. What's Bangkok without having Mookata right?! This place is called Bar-B-Q Plaza and they had quite a number of outlets in Bangkok. The outlet we went to is at Central World near Platinum Mall.

We ordered the meat set for 2 and they had many different kinds of meat like pig's kidney, pork belly, bacon and chicken as well. It also includes seafood like prawns, fish and cuttlefish. For the price we paid that's considered lots of food and choices.

The meat are not marinated with any sauces but after barbecuing, you can taste the freshness of the meat and the prawns has its own natural sweetness. Its actually considered quite healthy :D

Nearest BTS station: Chit Lom

There's always room for dessert even after a full lunch. The signature dessert in After You is definitely the Shibuya Honey Toast. And there's also an outlet in Central world.

Each table comes with a bottle of maple syrup so you can add as much as you like to your dessert. The toast is HUGE so it can be shared by 2 of us. Loving the thick toast which is crunchy on the outside and soooo fluffy inside. It goes so well with the maple syrup, ice cream and whip cream. When eaten together, its pure HEAVEN.

The waiting time for the toast is around 20mins and the place is always filled with lots of people.

So the boy collected his tailored made shirt and pants from Alex's Fashion and he LOVES it a lot. It was his best buy in BKK. The boy wanted to try out the quality of the product so he didnt get their package. We chose everything from type of fabric to be use for shirt and pants, colour as well as number of pockets for the shirt and pants. For this set it cost SGD110 and the good thing about it is you will be able to pay using SGD and they use international exchange rate.

Another good thing about our hotel is Somboon Seafood is just walkable distance from our hotel. The walking distance is just 10mins. I have heard of many scams of taxi or tuk tuk drivers bringing you to another seafood place instead of this but im not worry about it cause its just so near to our hotel.

Somboon Seafood is famous for their fried curry crab. Their curry sauce was DELICIOUS with a combination of eggs. The only thing we regretted was not ordering a larger portion cause the portion we ordered was too small and we do not have enough crab meat to fulfill our stomach.

The price of our seafood food feast costs us around SGD 50 only. CHEAP & DELICIOUS!

The outlet we went to is at Bantadthong. It is two stories high.

Nearest BTS station: National Stadium

Take exit 2 from Nation Stadium Station and take the stairs down to Rama 1 Road. Just walk ALL the way straight and turn left at the traffic junction. Continue walking down straight and you will be able to see Somboon Chinese Restaurant at the front and Somboon Seafood Restaurant is just right beside it on the left.

Bangkok Trip Day 2

ITS THE BOY'S BIRTHDAY on day 2. Having Bird Nest drink every morning in BKK. THATS THE LIFE MAN! Initially wanted to have ISAO for brunch but they were close for 3 days :( So we had our plan changed!

Couple OOTD before heading out for the LEGENDARY wanton noodle.

Have been craving for this when im planning for the trip. Read many blogs and reviews stating that this is a MUST TRY in BKK. The place is actually very easy to locate. Its near the shopping heaven PLATINUM MALL

The noodle is springy and flavourful. The noodle comes in very small portion. The boy can even finished it within 3 mouths. They added pork lard to the noodle and that explains the flavourful taste of noodles in your mouth.  I can have this for breakfast everyday and it cost around SGD2 per bowl only. Order at least 2 bowls if you are hungry or save the stomach space for more food later on.

The restaurant will always be filled with Singaporeans and Locals. Arrive there early as there will be queue but the turnover rate is quite fast. Don't worry if you can't read or speak Thai because the lady whom is taking the order knows Chinese. Just speak Chinese to her for your order.

Directions to Sab x 2 Wanton Mee: Cross over to opposite of Platinum Fashion Mall from overhead bridge and turn left. Walk straight and you will be able to spot Shibuya 19 or McDonald's. Just turn right from the junction and walk straight and the destination is on your left. Its only about 5mins walk.

Nearest BTS station: Chit Lom

Next we headed to Terminal 21 for shopping. They had different themes for each level like Hollywood, San Francisco, Japan and many more. The prices there tend to be more expensive than Platinum Mall but the boy bought many t-shirts from here. The t-shirt prices are reasonable for guys like 200baht each. There is also Taokaenoi Land at the basement and we bought lots of seaweed inside cause it is wayyyy cheaper.

BTS station: Asok

After shopping, we headed back to hotel to drop our stuffs and head out again to SIAM for dinner. From Mercure Hotel, you can actually walk to Siam Discovery shopping mall and all the other shopping malls in SIAM area are just located to each other.

Decided to stop by Let Them Eat Cake for dessert before our dinner. They are famous for their Thai Ice Tea Tart. We ordered a glass of Thai Ice Tea, Thai Ice Tea Tart and Lemon Tart. The prices in their menu are almost the same as SG's Cafes.

Their Thai Ice Tea is so nice but milk tea in Thailand can never go wrong. The Thai Ice Tea Tart taste the same as the drink but in solid form. So those who loves thai ice tea will love this. It has the sweet and aroma flavour of the tea. I LOVE their lemon tart a lot. It taste so refreshing and their crumbly biscuit base was good.

After dessert we went over to Somtam Nua at Siam Square for dinner. Its very easy to locate. Somtam Nua gets the CNNGO's award and they are famous for their papaya salad and fried chicken.

Almost everyone dining there will order at least a basket of fried chicken. It is crispy on the outside with succulent juicy tender meat inside.

The other must order dish is the pork shoulder. The meat is soft and tender and not the usual kind of pork that we had which is too hard to chew.

Nearest BTS station: Siam

This is the MUST HAVE street food in BKK. You can find this in almost every street night market. Our hotel is near the Siam night market and we are lucky enough to find this selling right outside our hotel. Its Prata wrap with banana drizzled with condensed milk. The great thing about this is they only made it when you order. BEST to eat it while its hot and it is crispy and sweet.
